A moment of gratitude and excitement at the onset of 2024

Happy New Year dear friends and colleagues!

2023 was my first full year in business for myself.... and wow, I learned so much. Thank you to everyone who shared their wisdom with me. 

Updates

I am honored to share I now am working for Jane Doe, Inc. the Massachusetts statewide coalition against domestic violence and sexual assault. I am spearheading a court listening project on the experience of survivors in Massachusetts District Courts.

I also have a multi-month contract with WISE, Inc., the agency that works with survivors in the great state of Vermont (I am biased).

I had the privilege of doing bi-monthly staff trainings to the great folks at Respond, Inc. in Somerville which builds upon my love for this organization (I was their director of programs from 2012 to 2013) and my love of teaching and mentoring.

And unsurprisingly to many of you reading this, I agreed to teach a course at Northeastern during the fall of 2023. 

I am conceptualizing ways of educating and training more folks in the field.

Domestic Violence Expert Witness 

2023 marked my first official foray into being an expert witness, having been hired by the Committee for Public Council Services as their first (!) ever domestic violence expert.

I hope that 2024 brings more opportunities to share my knowledge through this mechanism.

Public Speaking Engagements

2023 also marked a bucket list item for me, my first-ever keynote address to over 500 people at the Attorney General’s Office of Victim Witness Assistance Futures Without Violence Conference on September 6, 2023 (Josh and my anniversary and the girls’ first day of school and we were kind of houseless, but that's another story)!

I am hoping for more speaking engagements in 2024.

Personal Health Journey

My health journey continues, but I had final prophylactic surgery in October of 2023, reducing my risk for breast and ovarian cancer to a negligible percentage. I am so grateful.

I also fixed a broken nose from a punch to my face from law school. The journey continues!
